Mr. Alex Au is the Co-Founder of Hong Kong Digital Asset Society and Chief Investment Officer of Alphalex Capital, a licensed asset management firm running hedge fund strategies. He has over 25 years of experience in finance and portfolio management with hedge funds and international investment banks. His expertise includes long/short equity trading, fixed income investment and digital assets. In 2021, Mr. Au founded Hong Kong Digital Asset Society to provide public education and opportunities to the youth in blockchain technology and digital assets. He is a frequent speaker in universities, seminars and conferences regarding digital assets. He also writes regularly at newspapers with topics ranging from regulations, mining, NFTs, crimes and DeFi, etc. In March 2023, Mr. Au was appointed by the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong to join the FinTech Advisory Group to advise on web3 related matters. In July, Mr. Au was appointed by the HK Government to join the Task Force on Promoting Web3 Development. This committee is chaired by the Financial Secretary Mr. Paul Chan and includes most of the senior finance and technology officials in Hong Kong. Mr. Au is also the Professor of Practice in the Department of Finance and Insurance at Lingnan University. He holds the professional titles of Chartered Financial Analyst and also a Certificate from MIT for Blockchain Application.
